Widgets require no code experience or expertise. They can be added, removed, and rearranged on the WordPress Administration Appearance > Widgets panel. http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Widgets
The main thing here is to identify which widget is used for what page template and this is where we come in handy.
Templates/Sidebars
Responsive comes with one default sidebar and it's positioned on right, however you can take advantage of the rest of the widgets as well by changing the Template from "Page Atributes" and apply the correct widget from widgets to go with the page template you have chosen.
Once you select any of the Templates you can use (Template specific) widgets and here's the list with their names just to help you identify them correctly.
Blog (full posts) = Main Sidebar
Blog Excerpt (summary) = Main Sidebar
Content/Sidebar = Right Sidebar
Content/Sidebar Half Page = Right Sidebar Half Page
Sidebar/Content = Left Sidebar
Sidebar/Content Half Page = Left Sidebar Half Page
