As many of you already know Responsive has been translated into 22 different languages and this morning I received a confirmation that our beloved Theme is also WPML compatible and that made me super excited!

  1. German
  2. French
  3. Portuguese
  4. Italian
  5. Swedish
  6. Malay
  7. Catalan
  8. Spanish
  9. Bulgarian
  10. Norwegian
  11. Croatian
  12. Serbian

  22. Finish

I am pleased that Responsive has so many translations in such a short period of time, but none of this would be possible without good people around the globe and special thanks to Ulrich Pogson who started the localization project.

WPML and Responsive:

Ever since the Theme was released, my goal was to offer everything you guys need to run a successful hassle-free WordPress site. Multilingual is most definitely big part of original idea and the missing link to make what’s already great even greater.

As of today WPML’s (wpml-config.xml) is officially included in Theme and already available on WPORG in version 1.7.2, or simply upgrade to the lastest version.

If you have any questions about WPML, please don’t hesitate to contact them here.

Thank you for using Responsive,
Emil Uzelac

Quick Update: Since 03/16/2012 with your help and your love for this Theme, Responsive was downloaded almost 170,000 times! (and counting) with an average rating 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Dear Emil, great news, but already the starting point of my site, the “home page” does not seem to be WPML-ready. I can’t have one in EN and one in DE it seems…

Funny I found my old comment searching for the answer to a similar question:

I updated to 1.9.0 and don’t have a homepage for the second language anymore. At first I didn’t even have a homepage at all after update (even in the default language) but I solved that by creating a page named “home” which I think is kinda odd, but ok.

So how can I get an old-fashioned responsive-theme homepage like it used to be for my non-default languages? I really wish I didn’t go with this update without testing or a backup. My site has been a mess because of this update for way too long now :(

The subject of this article is not correct, anymore at least.

You can see it working here.

You need to create the other language versions of the page that you created for the default language.

I got the error when I updated and created the home page.

    This post is still accurate

    This site translation (http://www.grappler.tk/wpml/de/)
    is not working well.
You can change the lahguage only on the root.

Any idea how to solve it?
